Bates Wells

Bates Wells is a law firm and the first of its kind to have a B Corp Certification in the United Kingdom. They work with clients across private, public and non-profit sectors and believe all organisations should take urgent and drastic steps to mitigate climate change. Rather than making incremental shifts towards greener practices, Bates Wells wants to help deliver the results we need in the time we have to tackle the climate crisis.

"Climate Perks is an obvious way of doing something meaningful, and swapping planes for trains is a really tangible way for staff to do something on a personal level, that the firm can support."

Bennetts Associates

Bennetts Associates is an architectural firm based in London, Edinburgh and Manchester, working across multiple sectors. Bennetts is the first architecture practice to implement Climate Perks, in an effort to reach their 2022 travel emissions reduction target of 7.5%. At Bennetts, they want their employees to put fighting climate change at the heart of their everyday lives as well as designing outstanding buildings for their clients.

"For Bennetts Associates, joining Climate Perks is a clear signal of our climate leadership, making it explicit both internally and externally that this is a key part of the way we do business. We recently told a recruitment agency about it and they were very excited about it, saying it’s exactly the sort of forward thinking policy that people want."

MTR Express

MTR Express is a private train company based in Sweden, a subsidiary of MTR global which has operations in Hong Kong, Australia, UK, Sweden and China.

MTR Express was established in 2015 with a sustainable transport mission and focuses on converting journeys between Stockholm and Gothenburg from car and air to train.

In 2018 they created a low-carbon staff holiday scheme, awarding employees that choose the train instead of travelling by air with an additional paid leave day. The company expects to retain the programme after the initial year-long test phase after an enthusiastic response from employees.

"At MTR Express we are all about promoting sustainable travel. We know that many people want to travel sustainably but for longer distances the longer travel time becomes a hurdle. There has been a lot of excitement about the scheme among our staff - and we hope to inspire other companies to follow our lead."
